A Farm Machinery Website Built for the Modern Age

Abbey Retail is a specialist retailer of agricultural machinery, parts, and tools, with two locations in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and Clerihan, Co. Tipperary. A subsidiary of Abbey Machinery, they serve farmers and agricultural businesses across Munster and beyond, stocking everything from everyday parts to heavy equipment.

Their old website was outdated and hard to navigate. For a business selling hundreds of products across two locations, it wasn’t doing the job. They needed a proper farm machinery website, one that worked as a real webshop, was easy to manage, and reflected the scale of what they actually offer. That’s where we came in.

Trusting the Process

The first job was the product catalogue. Abbey Retail had all of their stock in ARD Software, their previous platform. Rather than rebuild that database by hand, we migrated the full product catalogue directly into WooCommerce, bringing every product, category, and detail across cleanly. For a business with a catalogue that size, that migration alone saved a significant amount of manual work.

With the content in place, we moved on to design. Abbey Retail is a subsidiary of Abbey Machinery, and we wanted the new site to feel distinct. We redesigned their logo in a bold red and carried that colour throughout the entire site. The result is a brand identity that’s recognisably their own while still sitting within the broader Abbey family.

The centrepiece of the build was a custom mega menu for their machinery range. With the volume and variety of products they carry, a standard dropdown menu wasn’t going to cut it. The mega menu lets customers browse by category quickly and clearly, whether they’re on a desktop monitor, a laptop, a tablet, or a phone. Every element of the site was built and tested across all screen sizes as part of our web design and development service, because a farm machinery webshop needs to work just as well on a phone in a yard as it does on a desk in an office.

This project was also the first time we worked in collaboration with Emma Choptiany at EC Easy Marketing, who brought her marketing expertise to the project alongside our development work. It’s a partnership we’re building on.

After launch, Abbey Retail moved onto our hosting and support package. Their site stays up to date, stays secure, and minor content changes are handled as part of the package. No chasing developers, no extra invoices for small updates.

A Webshop That Works as Hard as Their Customers Do

Abbey Retail now has a farm machinery website that reflects the scale of their business. The full product catalogue is live and browsable. The branding is clean, distinctive, and theirs. And the site performs just as well on a mobile in the field as it does on a monitor in the office.

If you run an agricultural or trade business and your website isn’t pulling its weight, let’s talk.
